Kindergarten

Kindergarten at Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is an adventure! We learn about God's wonderful world in a variety of ways always with the focus of His gifts to us. As you can see when you drive into the parking lot, the Kindergarten garden is flourishing, the tomatoes are ripening - as long as the KKids leave them on the plant! Our Social Studies lessons are presently focusing on the symbols of our country and the respect we are to show for them. Math is always fun. We have a variety of manipulatives which aid in the teaching of geometry, patterns, adding and subtracting, and money. Through out the day identifying letters and the sounds they represent help the KKids to become familiar with the English language. The "formal" language arts class time is filled with letters, words, sounds, comprehending stories, making up stories, and becoming better acquainted with the concept of reading. And over all these studies is the protective, guiding cover of God's very special love and forgiveness of which we all partake frequently. Our study of the Bible includes the stories which would have the greatest appeal to KKids and to teach them basic Christian concepts. Add to all this arts and crafts, lunch, story time, a nap now and then, and recess and we have a very full day.
